2003 EVENTS PROGRAMME

Wednesday of; Presentation Title; Details on the topic of the evening;
15th January A Tribute to Gerry Hughes Part 2 More cine films of a transport interest from the collection of the late Gerry Hughes, with Keith Carter once again as our film projectionist.
19th February Annual General meeting From 8pm to 9pm. A slide show of 'Winter Scenes' primarily on a transport theme, from the picture library of Gordon Dinnage.
19th March Steam on the Southern Peter Winchester looks back forty years with the aid of cine film about steam trains on the South Coast, with a touch of other transport in the Brighton area.
16th April Trolleybuses, Trams & other local transport By popular demand, Terry Russell returns with some more cine films from his collection.

21st May

Transport Old & New

Malcolm Keeping, a firm favorite of STIG, will delve into his cine archives, providing an evening of trolleybuses & motor buses.

18th June

A Signalman Reminisces

Derek Osbourne, now working for the Bluebell Railway, recalls his days at our former local signal box at Kemp Town Railway Station.

16th July

The British Motorcycle Industry

Nick Kelly, STIG member & local transport enthusiast, takes us for a 'spin' on two wheels, on the history of the two-wheeled machine, popular for leisure, work & as a cult.

20th August

Swiss Wonderland - Mountains, Lakes & rack railways.

Godfrey Gould and Keith Carter team up for us to recall thier recent summer holidays, looking at varied means of transport from road, rail to water.

17th September

Eastbourne Buses

This Sussex based bus company celebrate its centenary in 2003. John Bishop recalls some scenes of the past from his collection of cine film.

15th October

The anorak goes North

Paul Snelling takes us on a rail trip up the East Coast Main Line to Wearside to view a wide selection of road & rail transport, both old & new.

19th November

On the China Seas

Trevor Cox relates the story of the China Navigation Company, one of the oldest British Shipping Companies in the world.

17th December

The Christmas Social Evening

An annual gathering for members to show a selection of thier own slides & interest for all to enjoy.
Venue to be advised at the AGM in February.
